Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find some answers to questions we get asked every day. Please consult this area and check that your question is not answered here before you contact us.

Why do you prefer to receive emails rather than phone calls?
We work full time jobs as well as running White Heat Design so it can sometimes be awkward to take phone calls during the day. Instead, if you leave us a message by phone with a few details about what you are looking for, we will get back to you. Alternatively, you can email us and we'll be able to reply much quicker. We prefer emails because it is easier to write a comprehensive reply that covers everything you need to know. We can also send you links and vice versa. -
How much will a website cost?
We have put some ballpark figures on the pages for our web design packages. Every website will be different and will therefore be priced individually and you will need to contact us with some details so we can give you a more accurate quote. Typically prices are as follows: £500 for our Startup Package, from £900 for our CMS Package and from £1200 for our e-Commerce Package. You will also need to consider maintenance costs which can be discussed when you contact us.
We require a 30% deposit on all packages, with the rest on completion, before the site goes live. Payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer or PayPal.
-
Are there any hidden prices?
No. Everything we do is transparent. This is what you need to pay for a website with us:
- the price agreed for the build of the website
- annual hosting and domain name fees after the first year (free for first year)
- the price agreed for monthly maintenance fees (unless you have opted for our Startup Package)
-
Do I need to buy the domain name and hosting?
No, we'll manage all of that for you and even remind you when annual payments are due.

What info should I provide you with?
In order to reply to your initial email with some helpful information, it helps if you give us some specific details to begin with. Here is a list of things you might want to include when you contact us (don't worry if you can't include all of them):
- the type of package you are interested in from our web design page (or what you would like from a customised solution)
- any specific features you would like for the new site
- the purpose of the site
- your approximate budget (if you have one)
- timescales (if any)
- a link to your current website
- examples of other websites you like
This should be plenty for us to work with. Speak to you soon!

How long will it take to build my website?
Good question. This largely depends on the type of project it is and how strict your deadlines are. We generally do not take on projects that have fixed, strict deadlines as we do not believe this should determine how we work. Of course we will always endeavour to complete projects as quickly as possible for you, but not at the expense of our work and your website. We work to the project, not the timescale.
That said, the most common delay in the build of a new website is waiting on content (text, images, info etc) from the client.

Should I go ahead and buy images for my website?
We would prefer you to let us know what you are thinking of purchasing for your site so that we can check the dimensions and quality of the image. We wouldn't want you to buy images that ended up being too low quality to be used. Feel free to search for some nice images, but it would be a good idea to send us links to those images so we can check them before you buy them.
