Jamie contacted us recently about a new logo for his upcoming web development business. The name of the business is YEM Design Ltd, with the letters standing for Young, Energetic, Modern design. This was essentially the brief for the creation of the logo.
The type of logo he was after was a combination mark (a combination of both the brand name and a recognisable symbol), and it needed to include a particular shade of blue, for which Jamie sent us the colour swatch. He also had a preference for a sans-serif font, but other than that, pretty much left us to our own devices.
When we got back to Jamie, we offered 3 quite varied design concepts, all of which were well received. He picked the one he was most drawn to and we then made a slight amendment to move the symbol from centered above the brand name to the left of it. We also made sure the text was neither bottom aligned with the bottom point of the blue box or centred with the right point. Otherwise it would have looked too symmetrical and unnatural. This is the finished article, supplied to Jamie in 7 differing formats, depending on where he chooses to put the logo. Best of luck, Jamie.
